For over six months, I suffered debilitating muscle cramping all over my body day and night. I saw multiple doctors and had a “million dollar work-up” to try to determine the cause. The doctors could not find anything and just assumed it was a side effect of the bone marrow transplant I underwent two years ago. I had no answers and more importantly, no relief. Then, I was referred to Catharina at Kiaha Myotherapy by my physical therapist. She is a godsend. After sitting down with me to go through my extensive medical history, she developed a treatment plan that targeted my most painful areas of cramping. The relief was immediate after my very first session. My cramping was significantly reduced and I was able to move my body freely without pain or worry. I was able to play on the floor with my two-year-old twins for the first time in months. Catharina was able to provide me what numerous doctors and prescription drugs could not - pain relief and mobility.

"Catharina Kiaha is an awesome person and therapist. She is extremely knowledgeable of the body - both anatomy and function. I wish that all of my patients had access to such a therapist. She is an expert "diagnostician" and knows "how to fix the problem". She takes the extra time to teach and advise on how to move forward to "heal" or to "prevent future problems". I highly recommend her."

"In 2014, I raced in a variety of endurance events, including three Half Ironmans, a Full Ironman, and two ultra marathons including a fifty mile trail race. The training for these events was often grueling, not to mention the races themselves, my mind and body suffering from the ongoing abuse of long training rides, runs, and swims. Throughout the course of the year, I went to several different places for massage therapy, and was vaguely satisfied with the results and conviced that the services provided by one massage center were practically the same as another. However, after seeing Catharina, I realized that there is a world of difference between the average massage and authentic, skilled "bodywork". The superior skill and artistic approach to her craft was only the beginning of my experience. At other places I'd been to, you tell them what's sore or hurts and they give temporary relief by "rubbing it out". However, Catharina went beyond isolating a specific sore muscle group, and helped me to understand how the muscle groups interact, and how pain or discomfort in one area may point to a problem somewhere else in the body. Also unique to her services are Catharina's enhanced sensitivity to the mind and body of her subject, allowing her make the necessary connections between symptoms and the root of their causes.
Immediately following my appointment, in addition to the instant relief from training-induced soreness, I noticed the following results: 1) Increased range of motion in my shoulders and back during swimming 2) Significantly decreased discomfort in my lower back during cycling 3) More effecient transfer of energy from my hips through my ankles in cycling 4) As a result of the Thai massage, looser hamstrings that felt less prone to tightening and cramping during running. As a competitve endurance athlete, I am always looking for ways to maximize my body's potential, while at the same time decreasing my chances of getting an injury. I am thankful and privileged to be able to work with Catharina in meeting these objectives."
